The 2006 TEMENOS Chennai Marathon was successfully run on 5th February 2006. A record 28000 participants and a total of over 30,000 runners in all took part. Apart from the marquee events, the main marathon for men and the half marathon for women, a series of other mini events were run simultaneously to encourage participation from all age groups.

LIVE telecast of the event, was carried across the country by Doordarshan on the DD Sports Channel. Doordarshan were also host broadcasters to the event.

The event has now been certified by the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) as the best conducted marathon in India.

TNQ Sponsorship as the sponsorship agents to the 2006 Chennai Marathon, brought in 2 sponsors to the event, TVS Motor and Dabur India (in association with Professional Management Group, Mumbai)

TVS Motor used the event as a pre launch promotion for it's new Apache 150 cc motorcycle. 15 Apache's were used at the event, for mobile scrutiny of participants during the race. TVS Motor also made a significant financial sponsorship contribution to the event.

Dabur India promoted it's Dabur Glucose brand at the event and apart from financially supporting the event, also provided all the Glucose required and 1500 caps for all officials.
